Action-Packed, Offline Traditional RPG

With the state of the mobile game market today, it is almost impossible to find a new paid game which you can play offline. Most of the games offered require strong internet connection before you can play them. The same cannot be said about Devil Stone. This game, developed by Hongkong-based developer, Simplist Limited, gives you a traditional role-playing experience complete with turn-based battles and a party of characters that you can assemble. But unlike other RPG games, you can play the entirety of the game offline. If you are tired of free-to-play social RPGs, this game will give you a break that you need.

The Story

Devil Stone follows the story of Phicus Sera, the successor to the throne of the Underworld of the Tenth Generation. However, the old Devil King deprived him of this right and sent him to the human territories. To gather the power to overthrow the old king and succeed the throne, Phicus Sera must find the fragments of the Devil Stone scattered all over the Lux Continent

In his quest, Phicus will meet various characters including Eiji John Austin, the Champion of the 19th Generation. Together, they will gather new comrades, complete various missions, and battle all kinds of monsters

The Game

Devil Stone takes a comedic bent right from the start, which brings a fresh tone that players usually don’t get on RPG games. The visuals are also something to note about its 3D polygonal style complete with lush, bright colors. Despite dealing with monsters and kings of the underworld, the game has a colorful look. The game’s artwork and difficulty level are somewhat similar to Witch Spring. However, the similarities end there as Devil Stone is more of traditional gameplay and comes with turn-based combat and four-character party.

To play the game, you will have to guide your character around the map. Here you will meet other characters, which you can add to your party, and monsters which you will have to battle. Unlike Witch Spring, Devil Stone does not focus on spells and training. However, the story is more solid and more linear. And since the hidden plot is gradually revealed as you progress, you will see a lot of changes in your party.

In addition to completing quests together, Devil Stone also lets you interact with your party as well as the villagers in every location you come across. Be warned though, the English is not really polished and can be choppy at times.

Devil Stone is a relatively short game which you can finish in a day or less.

A Gaming Rarity

Overall, Devil Stone is a great addition to the ever-growing number of RPG games available today. But, while the game story is nothing new, its concept is a rarity. By allowing players to play the games offline, you can complete the quest without being hindered by unstable internet. More so, it has no in-app purchases, so you only get to pay once, and that is for the download. After that, you can go on playing without the game prompting you to pay for upgrades.

  • Solid Game Story
  • Nice Artwork

CONS

  • Short Game
  • English Conversation Between Characters Needs More Polishing
  • Some Bug Issues
  • The Game Is a Bit Expensive
